The Best Coworking Space in Richardson

The Drawing Board continues to be the “go-to” place for coworking spaces in Richardson. Patrons looking for a place to stop in for a day of work combined with an artistic vibe never pass on the opportunity to pop into this cool space. Privately owned and operated, The Drawing Board has a very relaxed feel, focused on helping small businesses grow, without the frills. A workspace that is light on the wallet, yet has all the amenities one needs (conference rooms, event space, receptionist, café, reliable Wi-Fi, notary, marketing) to get the job done are the reasons why this space just works.

Office space memberships range from virtual, floating desks to private offices. Pricing per square feet is super affordable. A podcast room and some new renovations will be added to the building in 2021. Swing by for a visit and see for yourself why The Drawing Board is the “Best Coworking Space” in Richardson.

Please tell us about yourself

I’m Laila Dar, a Texas native and lover of all things pink. I’ve always had a deep love for writing and fashion, so I knew that I wanted my career to align with those passions. So I moved to Dallas five years ago and launched my career in fashion PR. As a publicist, I get to work with emerging fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands to craft their overall brand messaging and marketing strategies. When I’m not at The Drawing Board, I’m most likely at home snuggling with my dog or grabbing a bite at Zalat Pizza.

Brief overview of your line of work

I worked at a boutique public relations firm for several years but was furloughed at the beginning of the pandemic. I had been thinking of launching my own business for a while, and being furloughed was just the push I needed to launch Dallas PR Gal. Now I work with women-owned brands and startups in the fashion, beauty, wellness and lifestyle categories to manage their brand reputations. I help brands with anything related to public relations, branding, influencer marketing and talent management.

Why The Drawing Board?

I chose The Drawing Board because it checked off every box for me: customizable office spaces, friendly members, and most of all, free coffee. Cam really helped me envision my business growing and succeeding at The Drawing Board, and I was sold immediately!

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”

Please tell us about yourself

My name is Janelle Pendleton and I’ve lived in Texas now over half my life. I am originally from Arkansas and still have family there. I live in Dallas with my husband of 14 years and our cat JuJu. I’m on the hunt for a dog so hopefully will be expanding the family soon. One of my greatest passions in life is singing. I have a BME with emphasis on voice and have sung in almost every choral group in Dallas as well as solo work around the area and in local theatre. I came to be at my company StoneEagle F&I Inc as a client in 1986 and then as an employee in 1989. We currently provide solutions for the retail automotive industry, but at the time I joined I was implementing and training clients on our Credit Life Insurance System of which I had been a user for 3 years.

Brief overview of your line of work

After being this long with the company and working at some time in every department over the years, it just became a natural fit for me to be in this role I am in now since it’s about understanding our business, culture and the family of employees we have here. I am the VP of People. HR is a difficult job and requires you to put on the company hat and the employee’s hat at the same time to help solve issues, create opportunities for employees and still protect the interests of the company. Balancing the two can be very tricky and challenging at times, but something I enjoy assisting with and participating in.

Why The Drawing Board?
We owned a building in Richardson for over 13 years, sold it, leased our space back from the new owners and our lease expired in March 2020. So when COVID hit and our teams were working remotely from home, we decided to put our office in storage since it was not being utilized realizing we were probably going to be in this state of remote work for quite some time. Not only has it been a cost savings to our company, but it’s still given us a place to come together in small groups if needed for a sense of community when the grind of zoom meetings can be exhausting. Our work culture is people centric and we actually like to be together. The Drawing Board is a great space for our size company and has worked out so well for our current needs as a company.

November News at TDB- 2019

Meet Community Manager Cam Prassl!

Please tell us about yourself: “My name is Cam Prassl and I was born in Vietnam and grew up in CT and RI for most of my life. We moved to Richardson, TX a little over a year ago in July 2018 to help with a new business venture! So far so good and we are enjoying Texas very much especially the food scene and being closer to my side of the family. Yes we survived the Texas summer heat However, being an avid runner, the summer heat hit me pretty hard! It slowed me down considerably and made for shorter runs.  But the mild winters made up for the distance and speed lost. I have a 7 & 9 yr old, a cat and a husband of 13 years. They are what keep me going every day

Brief overview of line of work: “I am the Community Manager here at TDB and am responsible for retention, keeping members connected, informed and happy.  If that is not happening, please be sure to let me know!!

Why TDB Coworking Space? The Drawing Board blows my mind away! It’s spacious yet private, has a great vibe and I love all the people in it! The cost to rent space here is the lowest among all of our competitors. It truly is the place for start ups who don’t want to pay for all the extra frills. Location is on point, right off 75 and Richardson is a wonderful community to raise a family and work!”

Words to live by: “There are so many quotes that I love but the one that speaks to me right now is “Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it”- by Lou Holtz

Costume Contest Recap

Halloween was definitely not just for kids this year. We had members participate in our Halloween costumer contest. Pocahantus, Google Map,Cindy Lauper and Nacho Libre made an appearance. Guess who won? Google Map- a costume created by the designer and wearer herself Jodi Cagle. They will both be receiving a gift card. It pays to be creative!

Members dress up for the annual costume contest!

Thanksgiving Potluck

It’s that time of the year to eat, share recipes and gather for a feast! We will be hosting our annual Thanksgiving potluck on Friday, November 22nd at 12:30pm in the cafe! A potluck signup sheet will be posted on the fridge in the cafe.

Mentorship Opportunity

The Drawing Board will be rolling out a new mentorship program in January 2020. Members will have the opportunity to participate as a mentor or be mentored. We will be working with mentors in various industries who will be able to help members with finance, marketing, product management, development, brand awareness etc. And it’s FREE. Our mentors are local to the Dallas area and will be visiting TDB weekly. If interested in learning more, please pull us aside or email us at:
